Johnny Park
(Bass)
Johnny Park remains one of the busiest people, probably on the
planet, but definitely with in the twin cities music scene. Being the
co-founder and front man of the critically acclaimed indie rock
band, The Oh Eeks and being a respected songwriter and
producer around town can take you a long way. Johnny first met
Matthew through a mutual friend and fellow songwriter, Thomas
Kivi, late in the summer of 2009. Through Thomas, they both
learned that they had a great deal of respect for each other and
were interested in what each other were doing. What started as
a conversation in Matthew's backyard, became the beginning of
an entire album, a new band, and a great deal of what both of
their careers later came to be. Johnny then went on to be the
producer for Matthew's album, "Screaming from the Witch's
Tower" as well as a number of singles that Matthew later
recorded and released.
With this new team effort, they started Greater Than Records
together, which is named after one of Johnny's original songs,
"Greater Than Magnets". Not only did Johnny take an active role
in producing Matthew's album, but he played most of the
instruments and even sang the backing vocals on almost all the
tracks. With Johnny's talent as a producer, songwriter and
musician, he grew up learning and playing a variety of different
instruments and was more than able to cover down on the bass
when it came time to showcase the band for the first time.
Johnny recently released the Oh Eek's debut album, "Greater
Than Magnets" which he co-produced and is also currently
producing Thomas Kivi's debut album, which is set to be released
later this year. Johnny has taken on many side projects as well,
but continues to play regularly with The Oh Eeks and EAP. You
can even see him perform as a solo singer-songwriter on special
occasions.
Johnny and Matthew's musical and professional collaboration
continue to be a primary focus for both of them, and they will
mostly likely continue working together on all of those aspects for
years to come.
